Ross Castle (Irish: Caisleán an Rois) is the ancestral home of the O'Donoghue clan. It is located on the edge of Lough Leane, in Killarney National Park, County Kerry, Ireland. Ross Castle was built in the late 1400s by local ruling clan the O'Donoghues, though ownership changed hands during the Desmond Rebellion of the 1580s. The castle was amongst the last to surrender to Cromwellian's Roundheads during the Irish Confederate Wars, and was only taken when artillery was brought by boat via the river lane.
This 15th-century castle is the subject of numerous historical myths, including that of a ghost who still makes appearances at the castle.
GOP Rep. Herger: ‘Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today.’ At a town hall meeting this week, “a partisan crowd of over 2,000 people” cheered on Rep. Wally Herger’s (R-CA) fear-mongering about the Obama administration and its policy proposals:
Herger did not hold back on his opinion of the health care plan and the administration’s appointment of “czars” to head various departments and task forces. “Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today,” Herger said to a loud standing ovation.
The audience also loudly cheered a man who stood up and declared himself to be “a proud right wing terrorist.” “Amen, God bless you,” Herger responded. “There is a great American.” (HT: Huffington Post)
William Wallace was seized in or near Glasgow in August 1305, and transported to London. He was charged and tried with treason, which he denied, saying he had never sworn allegiance to the English king. His execution was held on 23 August, where he was hung, drawn and quartered. You just can't trust corporate news. Most people can't tell the difference between opinion and actual news because there are no boundaries. We have one of the stupidest, most uniformed population going. I'm totally fed up with the health care debate because the most ignorant among us are making all the noise and may ruin it for the rest of us.... all thanks to commentators on the news channels who don't even bother to challenge those who have the facts wrong.
The Democrats are trying hard to fight the battle. Mr. President where are you? Some seem willing to concede rather than debunk the untrue rumors. To hell with bipartisanship. Worst of all is that gun toting protesters are allowed within a mile of Obama events. Educated and informed protesters couldn't get within 5 miles of a Bush event. Think about it. How is it that we allow redneck terrorists to control this debate?
Did you see the interview where some woman said that she wants the country to go back to the way it was when it was founded? Hmm. She wouldn't even have a say if that were so!. Wonder if she ever heard of Cady Stanton or Susan B. Anthony just to name two. Women have only had the vote since 1929 in the United States.
I have outrage fatigue. I don't even know what to say to people anymore and I tend to just turn away when they display such ignorance... willful ignorance and damn they are proud of it! Go on with you bad selves. But take those American Revolutionary symbols which you have been flying..like the yellow Gadsden Flag, the Culpepper and Betsy Ross flag and put them back in the museum you morons. One guy had the nerve to tell me that the Culpepper flag had only flown once in Pennsylvania. Really? I am a Culpepper! We are from Virginia and the Carolinas. There is a county in Virginia named for us. Seeesh.
And how can our country be both socialist and fascist, and run by a communist nazi? If I were a newscaster/commentator, I'd be compelled to explain the difference to my guests. Some one didn't take PO101 in school. I think a lot of these people didn't get past the second grade.
This almost seems like a joke. Except people are dying because they have no insurance....who will speak for them?
