Denver Botanic Gardens

Recently, I spent a glorious Colorado afternoon at the Denver Botanic Gardens. They were a little light on blooms but the gardens did not disappoint at all. I had the place all to myself, which for a photographer is a dream and a blessing all rolled into one.

I came away with beautiful memories and really enjoyed the variety and health of the plants there. I would recommend a stop by the Botanic Gardens to anyone. Parking is great and the staff are very helpful.

Enjoy this video tribute to the beauty that was mine that day!

Miss Ruby Belle - Cavalier King Charles

I shot this picture of Miss Belle today while out for a walk in the sunshine. She is really quite a girl. Lots of snuggling and kisses comes from this sweet lassie. Ruby is training so incredibly fast. Her training is almost second nature. I know from having a service dog like Cricket, that dogs are very intelligent and capable of more than people give them credit for. She is this fantastic now, imagine what she will be able to do in a month or six months.

So just how does a beauty like that maintain the look? Well for one she takes long soaking baths like the one in the video above. This was Ruby Belle's first bath, and in accordance with tradition, I went all out to fully traumatize the little one....giggle.

Really, she did enjoy it and the memories were set to music and uploaded for posterity.

Enjoy!

In Memory of King Cricket

It is with great love and overwhelming grief that I post this tribute to my service dog, King Cricket. He was a loving member of our family, a great service dog and a unique almost bigger than life Chihuahua. He is missed everyday more than I can say.

Someday I will be with him again. He was the kind of dog that true legends are made up of.

Darling Baby Boy, I love you and I will always keep you in my heart.

See you soon, but not today.

Poem for Cricket

TO CRICKET

You are now a spirit that moves like the leaves,
Goosebumps, that only my soul sees.
Best friend, life companion of mine,
You helped me when I was blind.
You were there when no light would shine.
Broken bones, scattered dreams,
In a cruel world were no one was kind.
Little friend, precious spirit you brought me life.
An endless sea of pain in me you did find,
Patient and gentle you cuddled away my strife.
Beloved Cricket, I owe you my life.
