Kirkin' O The Tartan - Colorado Style

This weekend heard the gathering of the pipes and clans for the annual Kirkan of the Tartan at Saint Johns Episcopal Cathedral. It was beautiful day in Denver and The Saint Andrews Society of Denver joined with the Denver Pipe Band graced the Cathedral with color and music that surely stirred the soul.

Here is the blessing being given to the Tartans presented to the clergy

This tradition started outside of Scotland,  by a Scottish immigrant who went on to be a Reverend. During WWII he began the tradition, still practiced today of blessing the tartans. Many societies in the United States and Canada raise money for causes during this time.

A Song of Ascent

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Keep Calm and Mother On

For all Mothers of children who were, and still are... sometimes difficult to raise, no matter how old they get. Who wear the simple fact that you are going to stand your ground and make them accountable.... like "a crown of thorns." Who also do not think, "you are worth the air you breathe," and have no doubt told you so. Who repeatedly threaten you at every turn. Remember, they are just uncomfortable because the big girl panties they put on, are a bit overwhelming right now.

This is also for Mothers, who have adult children who wallow in the pond of the past to drown both themselves and you, but only if you let them.

This is for you. Stay Calm and Mother On.....

To all Mothers who divorced abusive husbands and fathers, only to have their children cry for 'DADDY'.... Their Father who deserted his children, never look back except in self pity, and was not man enough to raise them, or pay child-support. When they are strong enough, they will go make peace, with them and he will then no longer reside on such a high. They will see him for what he really was, and is today. Stay out of it. Karma will be there, I promise.

To the Mothers who gave, and give their best shot at raising their children, and society pulls a trump card of 'entitlement issues' out on your kids, and they bought into it.

I had only daughters. So to Mother of Daughters, I say...walk away from all these little 'Drama Llama Baby Mamas.' Because nothing you can say to these self absorbed, young women will be heard. They will find themselves richly corrected in a few years. Because their manipulative behavior sadly will affect both them and their children, I promise. God help them both.

You know you were a good Mom. So stay calm and go one further now, and live a happy full life without the drama. You deserve it. You gave your best and you know it.
